Frequently Asked Questions & Subscription Terms

Pecks’ Picks uses “local” flowers. How local is “local”?

As a member of the Slow Flowers Society (www.slowflowerssociety.com), Pecks' Picks embraces local, seasonal, and sustainable flowers. All flowers and foliage used by Pecks' Picks are local to the PNW whenever possible. For us, this means blooms and greenery will come mostly from flower farms centered in Washington and Oregon but may range from B.C., Canada down to California (particularly in coldest winter months). This enables us to stay true to the general region and our tenets, while still sourcing fresh blooms for you year-round. (Some selections will come from the Pecks' own Magnolia, Seattle garden!)

How large are the weekly flower arrangements?

As of Spring 2026, the Pecks’ Picks subscription size is generally jam-jar-sized desktop-sized arrangements—the perfect size to bring home in your car’s cupholder, which I hope will give recipients something small and special to look forward to each week, as they work their way towards each weekend. Other sizes/offerings may be on the horizon!

How do payments work?

Your first arrangement will be paid for at checkout. Going forward, Shopify will automatically process weekly payments prior to pickup/delivery. You'll receive an automatic reminder email each week before that payment is charged.

Why is the weekly pickup/delivery during the work week?

As of Spring 2026, the Pecks’ Picks subscription is set up for weekly pickup/delivery on a designated weekday, which I hope will give recipients something small and special to look forward to, as they work their way towards each weekend. (This is one reason I started making similar arrangements for myself: to add some nature and cheer to the corporate grind… and I hope to do the same for others!) Other sizes/offerings may be on the horizon!

Where/how do I pick up my subscription?

When you officially sign up, you’ll get an email with specific location and easy instructions for pickup/delivery.  Generally, pick-up happens at a local business (e.g., Magnolia subscribers are instructed to pick up at a Magnolia business) on a specified weekday, during normal business hours. Delivery generally happens in the evening—you’ll receive a text notification each time your flowers are delivered to your door.

I’m a pick-up customer, but can you deliver them just this week? Or can I pick them up on another day?

NOTE: Flowers must be picked up each week on the designated flower day, within normal business hours of the pickup location, so if you think you won't make it, please either pause your subscription for the week or send a friend to pick up for you. (More information of subscription pauses below.)

The pickup vs delivery option is not easily altered on a week-by-week basis. So, we ask that subscribers generally choose weekly pickup or delivery and stick with that option. That said, if you’d like to shift from pickup to delivery option as a long-term change, please do reach out to us at meg@peckspicks.com and we’ll be happy to help you update your subscription option!

How do I pause/cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions may be paused or cancelled at any time with advance notice. Because flowers are perishable and planned in advance, 48 hours' notice is the tightest window to pause/cancel without payment for the upcoming flower day. Just email meg@peckspicks.com, and we’ll take care of it for you.  Paused subscriptions will automatically be reactivated for the following week unless a longer pause is specified.

If something comes up last-minute, you're welcome to send a friend to grab your flowers during the usual pick-up window. Arrangements that aren't picked up by closing time on flower day, are donated to someone who could use a little extra joy, so they never go to waste. If you are a delivery customer, with advance notice, we will happily deliver to an alternate Magnolia address.

How can I keep my flowers as fresh as possible, as long as possible?

Pecks’ Picks subscription arrangements come in small vases pre-filled with flower food-fortified water and ingredients to inhibit bacterial growth. Your flowers are very fresh and will be thirsty, so check water daily and add more water from your tap, as needed.

Every few days:

(1) lift the entire arrangement out of the vase (simply grab and keep a hold of all the stems in one hand to keep your arrangement intact) then

(2) rinse out the vase;

(3) refill the vase with clean water;

(4) rinse the stems off;

(5) snip off the very bottoms of the stems;

(6) place the flowers back into the vase (do this as soon as possible after your fresh snip).

Another Pro Tip: If you really want to extend the shelf life of your flowers, store in your refrigerator at night and take them out each morning. (But do not let them touch the sides of the fridge – they might freeze and wilt!)

Finally, remember: “Flowers are not meant to last forever, and that is precisely what makes them so precious.” - @kristengvy

Part of the beauty of bringing their natural wonder into our manufactured spaces is that fresh flowers are a gentle reminder of how amazing and fleeting life is.  “Be fully present in the moment and appreciate the beauty that is now. “ “Stop and smell the roses.” “Gather ye rosebuds while ye may…” etc., etc.

What should I do with my vase(s) once the flowers have faded?

Pecks’ Picks subscription arrangements are provided in small glass jars (filled with flower-food fortified water for long-lasting enjoyment). You may recycle or reuse the dishwasher-safe vessels as you like, or return to us upon your next week's subscription pickup/delivery. Pecks’ Picks will gladly accept and reuse returned vases! (Please clean before returning.)
